Did you know that the world-famous Tyne Bridge opened over 90-years ago?
Wednesday the 10th of October 2018 marked the 90th anniversary of the iconic Tyne Bridge which as you will already know, links Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead.
As a leading provider of Occupational Health services to steel workers and manufacturing companies in the North East of England, we work closely with a host of Health & Safety Managers and Advisors who will be in a state of shock to see the conditions which the fearless workers braved.
Many thanks to North East Film; who have released some brilliant footage and imagery – including the workers manoeuvring narrow pathways 200ft above the River Tyne:
Health & Safety clearly wasn’t high on the agenda back in 1928 and we very much doubt that the workers were put through a programme to asses if they were fit to work at heights.
Fast forward to 1974; the Health & Safety at work act was introduced – followed by the Working at Heights regulations in 2005, which is to prevent death and injury caused by a fall from height.
It is imperative that businesses understand the relevant risks and requirements to keep compliant with Health & Safety regulations. It is the responsibility of the company to understand the risks and determine which assessments are required for employees.
Later this year we will be launching NPH Works; an online tool which will educate users on the risks relating to Fit for Work and Health Surveillance assessments. Currently under construction with one of the leading web development companies in the North East, Sleeky – once launched, users will be able to generate instant and accurate quotes within 3-simple, quick steps.
As the name suggests, NPH Works really is a solution that works!
